The sunrise blinds the early risers of the city of New York. Morning brings the smell of a fresh scent in the cold air as the gray sky is lifting with a scatter of small rain drops. Mr. Arabeck, owner of a modest sized motel on the lower east side is packing his case to leave for Chicago, his wife accompanies him, you can hear the clanging of the suitcase wheels as they departed for the next three days. Maribelle waves goodbye to her trusting boss of six years, she is the most loyal employee Mr and Mrs Arabeck could hope for. She continues her scrubbing and waxing as though they never left. A knock at the door sees the arrival of Miss Alice Keriyan, the niece of the Arabecks. She is there to make sure business runs smoothly.
